It’s official, today is my first day of Master Cleanse. I was supposed to start on Monday, but kept coming up with excuses as to why I shouldn’t do it on that particular day… Here we are, it’s Thursday and I’m finally committed to this adventure.
I do this Master Cleanse thingy (also known as the lemonade diet) once a year in the summer. It’s like a ritual I have. The results are visible pretty much from day 1 and that’s what I particularly like about it. In addition to significant weight loss, this Master Cleanse is actually a CLEANSE, duh!
Master Cleanse consists of drinking a home-made lemonade mix that detoxifies and cleans your body. Normal people do it for these purposes and NOT weight loss. But it doesn’t hurt to kill two birds with one stone, right? Right. It is a modified juice cleanse where one is not allowed to eat food. At all. Zero. It’s pretty crazy when you think about it, but it’s actually very good for you.
It’s basically 100% liquid diet that must be followed strictly without any exceptions for a minimum of 10 days. I’m planning on sticking to it for 2 weeks (major LOL). I usually lose interest after about 5 days. We’ll see how long I last this time.
Preparing the drink
2 tablespoons lemon juice (about half a lemon)
2 tablespoons grade-B organic maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Dissolve all ingredients in 10 oz. water.
A typical day on a Master Cleans diet looks as follows:
Right after you wake up – 2tsp sea salt + 1qt. warm water
Throughout the day – 6-12 glasses of the Master Cleanse Lemonade (recipe above)
Just before bed – 1 cup of laxative herbal tea
